Capital Sons is a melody and guitar-driven rock band from Minneapolis that plays original songs with soul and substance. The band combines unforgettable hooks with a rock-steady rhythm section, touching on themes of love, loss, introspection, and revolution.

For nearly two decades, Capital Sons has seamlessly blended their diverse musical influences into a high energy and lyrically poignant mix of pop-rock. The band members — Karl Obermeyer on lead vocals and guitar, Keith Raney on bass and vocals, Rick Paukert on lead guitar, and Mike Jueneman on drums — have earned a reputation as an original and expressive band making a mark on the Twin Cities and beyond. Citing inspiration from bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Replacements, The Rolling Stones and Pearl Jam, Capital Sons puts their own modern rock signature on every one of their original songs.

Capital Sons was voted Hardest-Working Band by industry professionals and peers for the 2020 Everything Minnesota Music Honorees. The band regularly performs live at bars and festivals throughout the Twin Cities and upper Midwest. Since the release of their critically acclaimed self-titled EP (2005), Capital Sons has also garnered generous airplay on 89.3 The Current, 93X Loud and Local, and 93.5 Rock It FM.
